Botox injections are a form of injectable treatment derived from a purified protein source. Botox aims to smoothen outlines by preventing the muscles from contracting into a wrinkle. Our Botox treatments are catered to Singaporean and other skin types. Read further for more information about Botox treatments.
A very minute dose of multiple Botox protein injections, tailored to Singaporean face types, are introduced with a tiny needle into the muscle, relaxing the nerve impulses that cause the contractions. As the muscles relax, the skin becomes less wrinkled and the lines gradually soften, giving you a more refreshed, relaxed and natural appearance. The procedure is relatively quick and simple that patients can have it done during their lunch hour. The procedure may take approximately 10-15 minutes, depending on the area(s) done.
When treated early, Botox helps to prevent wrinkles from becoming heavy creases on the skin. In individuals with prolonged signs of wrinkles, the lines can be deeper, and hence more difficult to treat. Botox can also reduce muscle bulk to give a shapelier face, smaller arms or calves, and even reduce the activity of sweat glands to reduce sweaty palms or armpits. When handled by skilled hands, Botox can also help in skin lifting. As with any procedure or treatment, results can vary by the individual.
When we frown, blink or squint, we gather tissue into a fold, which can cause a crease in our skin. This can result in crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles and frown lines. Botox works by blocking nerve impulses to muscles, resulting in a relaxation in that area. Because muscles are used when twitching or frowning, injecting Botox into these specific muscles with minute doses of Botox can prevent this action. Once a muscle action has been relaxed, existing creases can be reduced and prevented.
Botox can also be used in brow elevation. This means the orbital areas can be slightly widened, for an open, refreshed appearance. Depending on the sensitivity of the skin, anaesthetic ointment may be used to numb the discomfort of a Botox treatment. The procedure can take up to 10 minutes or longer to perform, with its effects typically taking a few days or more to become apparent. 2 to 3 touch-up treatments a year is recommended for maximum results. As with any procedure or treatment, results can vary by the individual.
There are several ways to treat wrinkles, Botox being one way to relax the offending muscles (Botox), while fillers can work to fill in depressed lines. Fractional CO2 Laser can also be employed to stimulate the skin's collagen production in the underlying dermis for a smoother skin. Areas where wrinkles can be treated – Forehead lines, frown lines, crow’s feet, smile lines and lines under the eyes.
Having a broad face can be secondary to 3 factors: bone, fats and large chewing muscles. All these factors will inevitably play a part but the choice of treatment can depend on the invasiveness of the procedure and which factor plays a bigger part in causing the broad face. By reducing the bulk of the chewing muscles, one can sharpen the angle at the back of the face. Another option is bone reduction surgery, although it is a major surgery and should be a last resort.
Drooping eyebrows can be in part, caused by the facial muscles pulling the area down, and skin becoming saggy with age and gravity. Treatments are thus based on targeting these causes.
Bulky calves can be a result of genetics or previous vigorous exercises leading to a buildup of muscles. Although fats may contribute to the size of the calves, muscles usually make up the big bulk of the calf size. In order to assess which treatment is effective in reducing the size of the calves, it is important to determine what causes the bulk of the calf size.
Botox can also be used to reduce the bulk of calf muscles and change the shape of bow-legged calves by reducing the outer side of the calf muscles. It can also be used to reduce arm muscles for those who wish for a less athletic or muscular-looking arms to make the arms smaller and slimmer looking.
Sweat glands require a nerve impulse to activate. Without this stimulation, they will not secrete sweat. By injecting Botox into problem areas such as underarms, hands and feet, the related nerve impulse can be temporarily relaxed and prevented from reaching the sweat gland. This, in turn, stops sweat production in the treated area.
Other uses of Botox injections can be the reduction of the muscle bulk of the jaws so that our face looks slimmer. This is very popular amongst Korean and Singapore face types where slimmer face is associated with beauty. It can also help in reducing calf and arm muscles to give a less bulky/muscular look to the arms and legs.
