- Fotona 6D has more steps, longer treatment time, more technologies used and is hence more expensive

Are you looking for a comprehensive solution to a whole range of skin concerns, such as sagging skin, wrinkles, pigmentation, dull skin, and more? Fotona 4D and 6D is often touted as an excellent solution.
Fotona 4D or 6D treatment is a non-invasive laser facelift designed to provide comprehensive facial rejuvenation, tightening, and lifting effects. It combines different laser modes and wavelengths to target various layers of the skin and address multiple concerns.
Fotona 6D is an updated version of 4D with more steps but their prices can vary quite a bit. In this article, we’ll find out the reasons for their cost differences.
What's the difference between 4D and 6D?
Just as the ‘4’ in ‘4D’ stands for the number of steps required during treatment, the same goes for 6D. With additional steps, our doctors can target more layers of the skin for more extensive results.
While we would like to iterate that more steps aren’t always better, we developed our Fotona 6D treatment so that we could offer our clients more longevity and extensive results and help them save time.
The Fotona 6D Laser Lift builds upon the principles and steps of Fotona 4D and includes two additional methods (steps three and six):
1. FRAC3® (Pigment and Vascular Lesion Treatment):
- FRAC3® utilises a Nd:YAG laser to stimulate the skin’s natural capacity to rejuvenate.
- It does so by selectively inducing micro-wounds in prematurely aged or damaged portions of the skin, creating deep skin rejuvenation.
- This step helps to tighten the skin, reduce fine lines, and improve the appearance of sun damage and age spots.
2. PIANO® (Bulk Heating Treatment):
- PIANO® delivers bulk heating to the skin’s deeper layers without causing damage to the surface.
- The laser energy heats the dermis, stimulating collagen remodelling and tissue contraction.
- PIANO® helps to further lift, tighten and firm the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and laxity.
- A cooling Machine is also used to ensure the skin does not overheat.
3. SmoothFirming (Proprietary step developed by Skin Lab):
- Stimulates the corners of skin- even behind the ears.
- Improves frontal hairline tightening to give an eyebrow lift.
- This step also helps lift the skin around the jawline, front of the neck, and back of the neck.
- This enlarged treatment area extends overall tightening from our face to our neck.
4. SupErficial™ (Skin Resurfacing Treatment):
- SupErficial™ addresses surface imperfections such as fine lines, texture irregularities, and dullness.
- The laser energy gently ablates the outermost layer of the skin, promoting cellular regeneration and collagen renewal for a nice glow.
- This mode improves skin texture, tone, and luminosity, resulting in a smoother, more radiant complexion.
5. SmoothLiftin™ (Intraoral Treatment):
- An Erbium laser that creates heat inside the mucosa.
- Targets the inside of the mouth using a special handpiece.
- This mode stimulates collagen production in the oral mucosa, improving skin elasticity and firmness.
- SmoothLiftin™ helps to lift and tighten the lower face, reducing the appearance of laugh lines and sagging skin and enhancing overall jawline definition.
6. VERSA Long Pulse (Oral mucosa treatment):
- Offers better intraoral mucosa* tightening.
- It helps deliver more lifting results, especially in the mid-face and the nasolabial folds.
*The oral mucosa, or the mucous membrane lining, is the “skin” inside the mouth, including the cheeks and lips.
Essentially, Fotona 6D at SL encompasses two extra steps that provide a more extensive skin-tightening procedure.

Why is Fotona 6D more expensive than 4D?
Naturally, due to the extra number of treatment steps, increased treatment time, additional range of strategies and technologies used, and increased lifting results, Fotona 6D treatment is more expensive than Fotona 4D.
In Singapore, the following is typical for Fotona 4D:
- Full Face: $800 to $1500 per session
- Eyes: $300 to $600 per session
- Neck: $400 to $800 per session
At SL, Fotona 6D treatment typically lasts about 1.5 hours and costs around $3,000 for the whole face, frontal hairline, and front and back of the neck.
Consequently, Fotona 4D treatment price starts from $2,000.
Is Fotona 6D better than 4D?
The short answer is no. Fotona 4D was invented by Fotona, a prolific developer of high-technology laser systems for aesthetics, surgery, gynaecology, dentistry and more. Fotona has been around since 1964.
However, Fotona 6D is more comprehensive. The 6D solution was developed for better longevity and to help our clients save time.
With both treatments, you will see some results right away. Your complexion will also look brighter. Further skin tightening and brightening results will appear gradually, and you can expect to see the full results in 2-3 months following your procedure.
Fotona 4D and 6D:
- Both are noninvasive and convenient.
- Any post-treatment swelling should go away after a few hours.
- Our team will offer detailed instructions on how to care for your skin before and after Fotona treatment.
- You can expect visible results shortly after your session.
Ultimately, choosing between 4D and 6D is not a matter of “better” but catering to your unique needs. While price is a critical factor in aesthetic treatments, choosing a clinic with a proven track record is a bigger priority. Your doctor’s expertise will directly impact the quality and longevity of your results.
