Fotona TightSculpting combines duo laser wavelengths, the PIANO and SMOOTH technologies to achieve deep as well as superficial skin tightening and fat reduction (laser assisted lipolysis). This is done in a 2-step process:

  1. Deep skin tightening and fat reduction with PIANO pulse
    The super long Nd:YAG pulse in the PIANO is designed to heat up the deep tissues comfortably, safely, rapidly, and uniformly by concentrating energy delivery to subcutaneously stimulate the body’s metabolism of fat, leaving the skin surface intact.
    The treated area is heated to and maintained at a safe temperature range of between 39 to 45℃ to facilitate lipolysis, the temperature at which fat cells are destroyed, while leaving other surrounding cells unharmed.
  2. Improvement of skin surface laxity with SMOOTH pulse
    A non-ablative Er:YAG pulse in the SMOOTH mode is used to tighten the skin as the fat is metabolised by the body, tightening any excess skin from sagging.
    This stimulates collagen remodelling and kickstarts the skin’s collagen production, which improves skin laxity and elasticity in the treated areas.

Who is suitable?

Who is unsuitable?

The Fotona TightSculpting Laser Lipo treatment is unsuitable in the following circumstances:

  • Patients with unrealistic expectations looking to return to how they looked when they were younger
  • Patients with a tendency to form keloid and hypertrophic scars
  • Recent ionising radiation to the area to be treated
  • Connective tissue diseases (collagenosis)
  • Previous deep chemical peel or dermabrasion (within 14 days)
  • Dark complexions

Is it painful?

Individuals may experience a mild and warm prickling sensation during treatment. After the procedure, your skin may be flushed and become slightly sensitive, which is part of the healing process. This should dissipate within a day or two.


Still, the Fotona TightSculpting Laser Lipo treatment is very comfortable and most individuals can tolerate it without using any numbing cream of pain medication. Patients are advised to wear sunscreen daily and avoid excessive sun exposure for better results.

What is the recovery like? Is there any downtime?

Downtime is minimal and can be virtually zero depending on the aggressiveness of the treatment and daily activities following treatment. Appropriate hydration and sun protection are recommended post-procedure.


The recovery period and appearance of results varies, depending on the individual. Response to the treatment also varies between individuals.

How many treatment sessions do I need?
