Is there downtime for PROFHILO® Treatment?
Immediately after the procedure, you can see small bumps, much like an insect bite or bee sting, at the site of the injection, which may take up to 24 hours to settle.
While these bumps are not extremely obvious, we do not recommend doing PROFHILO treatment right before an important event.
Depending on what sort of skin you have you can still have a few bumps hanging around the following day.
The treatment process is quick and comfortable, requiring only 5 injection points on each side of the face.

FAQ
PROFHILO® is injected under the skin using very small needles. We use TSK INViSIBLE needles, which are 33% thinner than 30G needles. These ‘invisible’ needles are very comfortable, which makes Profhilo treatment (or any injectable treatment) with us almost painless.
The protocol for PROFHILO® on the face requires it to be injected on 5 points each side of the face. The process is made more comfortable with numbing cream applied prior to the procedure.
Slight soreness around the injection points can sometimes be felt for the first 1-2 days.
At our clinic, we’ve developed a proprietary protocol for our PROFHILO® treatment that incorporates local anesthesia, ensuring a nearly painless experience for our clients. Please note that separate charges for anesthesia may apply.
Hyaluronic Acid is well-tolerated by the skin. The only reported side effects are mild bruising and mild swelling at the injection sites.
These generally disappear in a short period of time and are associated with the needle, not the product.
PROFHILO® was launched in February 2015 in Italy. It has been used worldwide ever since and has become a firm favourite across the globe with no adverse reactions reported.
From a safety perspective, PROFHILO® is highly bio-compatible because it is made from natural Hyaluronic Acid. It is also stabilised without the addition of chemical cross-linking agents.
This reduces the risk of adverse reactions. In any case, you should plan your treatments around social events in case you do experience any effects that could affect your appearance, such as mild bruising.
PROFHILO® continues to work in the skin for around a month after treatment, at which point it will have been fully metabolised by the body.
By this time, it will have stimulated natural collagen and elastin production, meaning that the rejuvenating effects of treatment will continue even after PROFHILO® has been naturally broken down.
For optimal results, we suggest scheduling an initial treatment followed by a second session one month later, a third session six to nine months after the second, and another session one month thereafter.
For drier, more matured skin, we recommend three treatments spaced one month apart initially, followed by a fourth session six to nine months later, and another two more sessions spaced one month apart.
Please note that this is just a general guideline and our doctors can recommend better after an assessment.
Patients may feel an immediate improvement thanks to the hydrating effect, but it can take a few weeks before the real results of treatment start to be noticed as PROFHILO® encourages the body to produce its own anti-ageing collagen and elastin.
After a month, your skin should feel smooth, soft, tight and plump. At this point a second treatment is needed to stimulate the collagen fully and elastin production for optimal results.
You may notice a refreshed appearance even a week after your treatment. However, the full results can be seen 4 weeks after your second treatment.
Although it’s most commonly used on the face, it can also work well on the neck, arms, knees and hands.
PROFHILO® can be used alongside many of our other treatments, to further enhance the rejuvenating benefits.
For example, PROFHILO® is a suitable partner for Botox treatments.
While Botox tackles wrinkles caused by specific muscles, PROFHILO® will give an overall radiance boost, complimenting the Botox.
Dermal fillers can also be used in conjunction with PROFHILO® to add volume to specific areas while PROFHILO® provides more general rejuvenation.
- Makeup should not be worn for 12 hours.
- Avoid alcohol and vigorous exercise for 48 hours.
- Avoid sunbathing, and extremes of heat or cold for 14 days post treatment.
- It is advisable to avoid aspirin for 12-48 hours after treatment.
PROFHILO® treatment takes around 30 minutes to be completed, per session.
During this half an hour period, the practitioner will apply numbing cream, mark out spots for injections and will inject your area of concern in five places for widespread and more effective treatment.
