Thermage FLX Skin Tightening & Firming In Singapore

Tighten And Rejuvenate Skin With Thermage FLX At SL Aesthetic Clinic Singapore

As you age, your skin loses its tightness. You may have tried skin creams and various products. If you’ve had limited success with these, though, you might be looking for professional treatment options.

One of which could be Thermage, a radiofrequency treatment that can smoothen loose skin on the face, wrinkly crepey eyes, jowls and jawline.

What Is Thermage?

Thermage was introduced in 1995 and it has FDA approval for the treatment of wrinkles on the face, eyelids other parts of the body.

Thermage uses monopolar capacitively coupled radiofrequency (RF) energy to tighten and contour skin. This specialised monopolar technology allows the RF energy to penetrate deeper than lasers, into the dermis and subcutaneous tissues. It is in these layers where collagen is stimulated, resulting in the tightening of the skin.

The top-down heating approach of Thermage means it is able to treat many superficial skin concerns – wrinkles, pores, and texture. Thermage’s skin tightening results typically fully realise after 6 months, and can last up to 2 years.

It is important to note that results will vary by the individual. Age is an important factor that determines how long results can last. As a general rule of thumb, the older you are, the less responsive you’ll be to collagen-stimulating procedures such as Thermage.

Thermage FLX Vs Thermage

Since it was first introduced, Thermage has been upgraded to a new version called Thermage FLX. Thermage FLX is similar to its older CPT cousin, but with some other features:

  1. Treatment time is reduced by 25 to 33% due to an increase in the surface area of the FLX handpiece.
  2. The FLX’s new vibrating cryogen feature enhances patient comfort.
  3. The FLX also features the new AccuREP technology which optimises radiofrequency delivery into your skin. This increase in precision and consistency means potentially better results than the CPT.

Thermage Treats A Range Of Skin Concerns:

  • Chiefly, it is indicated for the tightening of crepey skin
  • Smoothening wrinkles and fine lines
  • Improving skin texture and pore size
  • Visibly firmer skin
  • Collagen production stimulated over time for longer-lasting results

Benefits

  • Thermage can be used to treat wrinkles on many parts of the face, eyes, and body
  • Can be coupled with other skin tightening treatments for beneficial results

Safety

Thermage is safe and FDA approved for the treatment of wrinkles and skin tightening and is the only treatment that’s FDA approved for the eyelids as well.

Is Thermage Painful?

Thermage FLX comes with a vibrating cryogen feature that enhances patient comfort by distracting the nervous system with a cool and vibrating sensation.

Pain and comfort vary by the individual.

Our strategies to reduce discomfort include the use of numbing cream, prescribing oral painkillers, providing vibration for distraction and playing light music in the background. While these may seem like a lot, we want you to have the most comfortable experience during the treatment because skin tightening treatments are very important in combating saggy skin.

Many customers have commented that doing Thermage with us was more comfortable than doing the same treatment at other clinics.

Skin Tightening Results With Thermage & HIFU

Thermage is not the only option for skin tightening. Another is HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound). While Thermage heats the skin from top-down, HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) heats the skin from the inside-out.

You don’t necessarily have to choose one skin tightening option over the other, though. They can be combined to improve results.

Due to its top-down heating approach, Thermage addresses concerns in the dermis – skin texture, pore size, wrinkles, firmness. The non-invasive, non-surgical HIFU with its inside-out heating mechanism goes into the deeper layers (e.g., SMAS or even deep fat layer) to lift skin that’s sagging from gravity, much like a facelift.

The two options, then, can be used synergistically to improve skin cross its different dimensions.

Other skin tightening treatment options include Fotona6D Pro, Sylfirm X, Ultherapy, thread lift and dermal fillers.

FAQ

Thermage is a non-invasive, non-surgical skin tightening treatment that uses monopolar capacitively coupled radiofrequency (RF) energy to penetrate into the dermis and subcutaneous tissues. It is in these layers where collagen is stimulated, resulting in the tightening of the skin.

Thermage is able to treat superficial skin concerns – wrinkles, pores, texture, dimples.

Thermage can be used to tighten skin and smoothen out wrinkles on :

  • Face, including eyelids
  • Neck
  • Hands
  • Thighs
  • And others

Thermage is FDA approved and is a safe and effective procedure when performed by a trained professional. Speak to our doctor to know more.

Depending on your skin condition, most patients see tighter skin, improved skin texture and tighter, firmer skin. Wrinkles are also smoothened, and delicate eyelid skin is strengthened for a more well-rested appearance.

After a Thermage treatment, your skin may feel taut and smooth to the touch. Additional tightening and smoothing may occur over 3 to 6 months.

After assessing your needs, the doctor can perform the treatment in approximately an hour for a treatment of the face (longer for the body), subject to the doctor’s schedule. Otherwise, a later appointment can be made for the procedure itself.

Thermage results can last up to two years. Results vary by the individual and lifestyle choices.

The saying that Prevention is Cure holds very true here. Anti-ageing treatments such as lasers and Thermage should be can be used preventively before your skin loses all its collagen and elasticity.

Waiting till your skin becoming saggy and wrinkly means it will be a lot more difficult to treat and will involve a more financial and time investment. Results will also never be comparable if you start with preventive treatments. Starting early, on the other hand, means you’re able to maintain and keep your skin looking youthful for longer.

Because it is non-invasive, downtime is minimised with Thermage. You are free to return to daily activities immediately after treatment. Makeup can be applied immediately after the treatment session.

Some redness can be seen in patients after treatment, and generally disappears within several hours. Blisters, though rare, may appear after the procedure. Occasionally, mild swelling may be noticed after the treatment but resolves in two or three days.

As with all treatments, downtime varies by the individual.

Thermage is suitable for patients desiring a non-invasive method to improve their sagging or ageing skin. The procedure is suitable for all skin types, and for both men and women. As with all medical procedures, you should be sure to disclose all of your medical history and current habits such as smoking and use of blood-thinners, medications, birth control pills, or supplements.

Thermage may be unsuitable in the following circumstances:

  • Patients with unrealistic expectations, such as those who seek to reverse skin ageing and return to their younger self
  • Patients using a cardiac pacemaker or other active implants
  • People that are hypersensitive to heat
  • Overly sensitive skin conditions such as eczema
  • Recent chemical peel or dermabrasion
  • Pregnant women

Pre-care: Ensure that you’re in a good state of health and not recovering from a bacterial or viral infection. Please ensure that you’re well hydrated before the procedure.

Post-care: Avoid the consumption of alcohol, swimming, strenuous exercise and going to a sauna for a day.

When you stop treatments, you will not look more saggy than before. In fact, you will look better than someone of the same age who has not done any treatments.

With age, gravity and cumulative UV exposure, our skin will certainly become more saggy. Making skin tightening treatments a routine will slow down the process of sagging.

So you will not suddenly look more saggy if you decide to stop. But you will look better than someone of your age who has neglected their skin in the time that you have done skin tightening treatments. This is because your skin would have more collagen and elastin due to the treatments.

Following your Thermage procedure, you can do a basic facial 2 weeks after. For facials that involve machines (e.g. I2PL, M22), we recommend waiting 4 weeks.
