Uses of Botox in Singapore

Botox in Singapore has been used to reverse the signs of aging and, more recently, jaw reduction.

Botulinum Toxin , or Botox as is more commonly known in Singapore, is a form of injectable treatment derived from a purified protein source. Injection with Botox aims to smoothen out lines and folds by preventing the muscles from contracting into a wrinkle.

There are several ways to treat wrinkles, Botox injection being one way to relax the offending muscles, while fillers can work to fill in depressed lines. Fractional CO2 Laser can also be employed to stimulate the skin’s collagen production in the underlying dermis for smoother skin.

How is it Done?

A very minute dose (or units) of Botox in Singapore is introduced with a tiny needle into the muscle, relaxing the nerve impulses that cause the contractions. As your muscles relax, the skin becomes less wrinkled and the lines gradually soften, giving you a more refreshed, relaxed and youthful appearance.

This quick and fuss-free in-office treatment has ZERO downtime. Therefore, rendering it a popular lunchtime procedure. A treatment takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the area you are targeting. Some skin tightening treatments in Singapore might take longer, so do consult your aesthetic clinic in Singapore to get a clearer picture of the duration of each treatment!

What Can Botox Do?

Botox helps to prevent wrinkles from becoming heavy creases on the skin when treated early.  In individuals with prolonged signs of wrinkles, the lines can be deeper, and hence more difficult to treat. In such instances, your doctor may recommend a combination of Botox injection and dermal fillers in Singapore to plump up the creases.

Botulinum Type A can also reduce muscle bulk to give a shapelier face, smaller arms or calves, and even reduce the activity of sweat glands to reduce sweaty palms or armpits.

Experienced doctors are also able to achieve skin lifting effects with Botox treatments. Do note that as with any procedure, results can vary by the individual.

Botox: Corrects Lines and Creases

When we frown, blink or squint, we gather tissues into a fold which can cause a crease in our skin. This can result in crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles, and frown lines. Botulinum Type A, or Botox,  works by blocking nerve impulses to muscles, resulting in relaxation in the area treated.

Muscles are used when twitching or frowning. By injecting Botox into these specific muscles you can prevent this action. Once a muscle action has been relaxed, existing creases can be softened and prevented.

Botox: Brow Lift

Yes. Botox can also be used in brow elevation. This means the orbital areas can be slightly widened, for eyebrow lifting or repositioning. A botox brow lift helps you to subtly change the arch in your brows.

Botulinum type A is used to weaken specific muscles at the eyebrows so that they either drop or arch at a certain point. Depending on your natural bone structure and ligaments, fillers may be required in some instances to create a more natural look.

Botox: Face Slimming or Jaw Reduction

Botulinum Type A is a common go-to treatment for the reduction of the muscle bulk of the jaws so that our face looks slimmer. This is very popular amongst Korean and Singapore face types where a slimmer face is associated with beauty and youth.

Having a broad face can be a result of 3 factors: bone, fats and large chewing muscles. All these factors will inevitably play a part but the choice of treatment can depend on the invasiveness of the procedure and which factor plays a bigger part in causing the broad face.

Face slimming or Jaw reduction with Botox is a result of reducing the bulk of the chewing muscles (masseters) at the back of the face. Botox will be injected to relax and reduce the size of jaw muscles to achieve face slimming.

In patients whose broad face is caused by wide jaw bone structure, a more viable option would be bone reduction surgery. However, it is a major surgery in Singapore and should only be considered as a last resort. Do ask your doctor if there are other non-surgical options.

Botox: To Correct Drooping Eyebrows

Drooping eyebrows can be in part, caused by the facial muscles pulling the area down, and skin becoming saggy with age and gravity.

Botox is commonly used to target these contracting muscles that are pulling at the brows. In more matured skin, Botox will be used with other procedures such as fillers, brows thread lift or HIFU treatments, depending on the causes of droopiness.

Botox: Calves Reduction

Slimmer calves and arms are possible with the injection of Botox.

Bulky calves can be a result of genetics or previous vigorous exercises leading to a buildup of muscles. Although fats may contribute to the size of the calves, muscles usually make up the big bulk of the calf size. In order to assess which treatment is effective in reducing the size of the calves, it is important to determine what causes the bulk of the calf size.

Botox is commonly used in Singapore, and many parts of Asia, to reduce the bulk of calf muscles. It can also be used to reduce arm muscles for those who wish for less athletic or muscular-looking arms to make the arms smaller and slimmer.

Botox: Excessive Sweating

Sweat glands require a nerve impulse to activate. Without this stimulation, they will not secrete sweat. By injecting Anti-Wrinkle Treatment into problem areas such as underarms, hands, and feet, the related nerve impulse can be temporarily relaxed and prevented from reaching the sweat gland. This, in turn, stops sweat production in the treated area.
