Vaginal rejuvenation and tightening in Singapore.

What is vaginal tightening and why do I need it?

Vagina tightening is a very sensitive subject for most women here in Singapore. Most of us are still quite conservative. Even thinking and talking about this topic can be quite uncomfortable. But for the more self-confident, liberal woman, this is no issue who find that their vagina has become more lax, undergoing a minimally invasive procedure to tighten the vagina is certainly no issue.

Vaginal Relaxation Syndrome (VRS) is a common ageing process in women.  It is also made worse by natural birthing. The looseness of the vaginal wall is caused by the overstretching of the vaginal canal during childbirth. It can also be due to vaginal atrophy from menopause-related hormonal changes.

How can I treat vaginal relaxation syndrome (VRS)?

One solution to tighten the vaginal wall is with the Fotona IntimaLase. It is a non-invasive laser therapy of the vaginal canal using photothermal energy.

This laser uses Er:YAG which is a non ablative  laser where the thermal heat can affect the vaginal tissue by stimulating, remodelling and synthesis of new collagen fibres in the vaginal mucosa and collagen-rich endopelvic layer.

This will tighten the vaginal walls. It is an efficient and safe laser performed by doctors. The procedure is comfortable with little or no side-effects.

How effective is the Fotona IntimaLase for vaginal tightening?

Studies show that the effect of the laser can last up to 16 months.  In fact, studies also show that two treatments done a month apart, was sufficient with good results. Maintenance can be done on a once yearly basis. The side effects were also reported to me mild oedema/swelling and tolerable heat sensation.

Further, it was also found that after the treatment, the laser  can enhance sexual pleasure. Research has also shown that  satisfaction with this treatment and its risks and costs are lower than surgery.

Another study also found that 58% of the participants in the study were highly satisfied with the results and 31% described moderate satisfaction.

And that more than 80% of the participants were willing to repeat the procedure again, with about 90% would recommend this treatment. Participants in this study found the pain to be mild. Adverse effects included mild and transient oedema and a tolerable heating sensation in some cases.

What is the treatment experience like?

The Fotona IntimaLase laser vaginal tightening is a simple procedure that can be done during your lunch hour.

Apart from a pap smear, there are no other preparations required before treatment. There are also no downtimes after treatment, except for no sexual activity 72 hours after treatment.

Why do Fotona IntimaLase SL Aesthetic Clinic?

SL Aesthetic Clinic is one of the few clinics that offer Fotona IntimaLase. The procedure is performed by 2 female doctors, Dr Sue Ho, and Dr Charlene Goh, who have both tried and tested the treatments on themselves and a roster of female volunteers to satisfactory results.

Besides the additional 5th step which enhances the lifting effects of the Fotona laser, we also perform the treatment for a longer duration than as per usual protocol (60mins vs 30 to 45mins). This means more laser energy is used to give you a more pronounced skin lifting effect.

What are the pre-treatment instructions?

Patients need to have pap smear done first before the treatment. The female doctors at SL Aesthetic Clinic are also equipped to do the pap smear. Pap smear results must be normal, urine culture negative and the vaginal canal free of injuries and bleeding. This should be done preferably 1 week after menstruation.

Before the laser treatment, the patient’s vagina must be cleansed thoroughly at home.

What are the post-treatment instructions?

No special post-treatment instructions are needed. Patients are only advised to avoid sexual activities for a period of 72 hours after each of the treatment sessions.  We also recommended to do a follow up check 2 days after treatment.

Before the laser treatment, the patient’s vagina must be cleansed thoroughly at home.
